About Forest Heights
Not quite urban, yet not quite suburban, Knoxville's Forest Heights neighborhood combines elements of both for a feel that's all its own. In real estate we say that location is everything, so being just 4 miles from the university and downtown, the neighborhood is somehow within 20 minutes of everything else in Knoxville! Residents love its views of the mountains, proximity to the greenway and bike trails, and the convenience of having so many shops, restaurants, and other local businesses nearby. The beginnings of the neighborhood date back to the Spring of 1928, when the "Forest Hills" subdivision was announced and the first homes were built, some of which are now on the National Historic Register. The neighborhood continued to grow, really taking off after World War II. Even though the neighborhood has a wide range of architectural styles on its 11 streets, they complement each other and provide something for everyone!
